Argentine Primera Division: Tigre – Sarmiento Odds for January 25, 2024

Tigre – Sarmiento

Tigre produced a frustrating season last year, ending up just two points above the relegation zone in the aggregate table and closing up their campaign with a 1-0 away loss to Union Santa Fe, a result that stopped their three-match unbeaten streak of two victories and one draw. At home, El Matador claimed a single victory across their last seven matches, drawing four and losing two. Coach Nestor Gorosito will start his third spell at the club after Lucas Pusineri’s departure and he welcomes 13 reinforcements.

Sarmiento lost their last league match (1-0 at Platense), but they still had enough to stay one point above the relegation zone in the aggregate table. However, the team secured a single victory in their last 12 matches in this competition, drawing seven and losing four. On away turf, they won one, drew four and lost seven of the last 12. Coach Facundo Sava left the club at the end of last season and Sergio Rondina arrived to replace him alongside seven new faces: Pablo Perez (arriving from Newell’s Old Boys) and Fernando Godoy (Huracan) are expected to take important roles.

With the return of Nestor Gorosito as their coach I expect Tigre to be a more offensive team and players like Brahian Aleman and Nicolas Contin should lead this attack. Sarmiento won’t have many changes in attack, veteran striker Lisandro Lopez is back for another season and Agustin Fontana is back from injury, so I’ll go for the OVER here as I expect a couple of goals between two teams that should be improved in attack this season.
