Talleres vs Velez
Talleres were one of the worst teams in the league in 2022 and now are one of the best. The team showed an enjoyable display of football last weekend, when they claimed a big 4-2 away success at Platense. As a result, Javier Gandolfi’s men made it four league successes in a row to accumulate 12 points in the Liga Profesional, which places them as one of the leaders, alongside Lanus, San Lorenzo and Defensa y Justicia. Talleres won four of their last six at home (including the last two), along with one draw and one loss. Coach Javier Gandolfi has no relevant new injuries or suspensions to contend with on Sunday.
Velez Sarsfield are living a tough moment in the first weeks of the season. Last time out, they suffered a 2-1 home defeat to defending champions Boca Juniors, conceding the winner when their opponents had ten men on the pitch. As a result, El Fortin extended their winless streak to four league games, drawing two and losing two since beating Gimnasia LP 3-1 at home in the opener. They are on five points in as many matches in the Liga Profesional, a poor campaign that resulted in coach Alexander Medina’s departure right after the last game. Velez are also struggling to win on the road, having not claimed any victories in their last 16 in domestic action (seven draws and nine losses).
Talleres is in a much better form than this Velez that will have an interim coach and usually struggles to win away.
