Talleres vs River
Talleres showed a great effort last Saturday, when they secured a valuable point on their visit to arch-rivals Belgrano following a 2-2 away draw after trailing on both occasions. La T keep their standards up in the Copa Liga Profesional, accumulating 11 points after losing only one of their last six games (three victories and two draws). However, that’s not yet enough to climb into one of the playoff spots in group A as they remain trailing fourth-placed Barracas Central by one point. Talleres also are on two consecutive victories as the hosting side.
River Plate wasted the big chance of becoming victorious in the Superclasico last Sunday as they had to settle for a 1-1 home stalemate against arch-rivals Boca Juniors despite having taken the first lead. As a result, El Millonario failed to climb into the first spot in the Copa Liga Profesional group A as they made it 13 points, now trailing leaders Argentinos Juniors by one point. On a positive note, Martin Demichelis’ men are on ten league games unbeaten (four wins and six draws). On away turf, River managed seven points from nine on offer this term without even conceding.
I know River has been strong when playing away, but their rivals were Barracas, Riestra and Atletico Tucuman so that’s not a real measure. They will have to visit this strong Talleres who will be extra motivated after coming back twice in the derby vs Belgrano, and I can’t see them as big underdogs against a River that has shown very irregular performances so far this season.
