Talleres vs Lanus

Talleres are going through a little slump at the moment. Last time out, the team showed a disappointing version and registered a scoreless away stalemate at newcomers Deportivo Riestra in a boring game. As a result, La T are without a win in their last four in this competition, drawing three and losing one, which places them on 33 points in the Liga Profesional, trailing leaders Velez Sarsfield by six. However, that’s enough to stay occupying one of the Copa Libertadores’ spots in the aggregate table. At home, Talleres have been unbeaten in their last 15 domestic games (nine victories and six draws). Gaston Benavidez and Juan Portillo are available after serving their respective bans.

Lanus were able to stop a long negative run in league action last Sunday, when they beat Boca Juniors 1-0 at home thanks to a goal from Eduardo Salvio (who wasn’t expected to play due to a muscle injury) in the 79th minute. El Granate put an end to their ten-game winless streak of five stalemates and five defeats in this competition to make it 23 points in the Liga Profesional table, still not enough to return to the Copa Sudamericana zone in the aggregate table. Lanus haven’t won any of their last ten domestic games as the visiting side, drawing four and losing six. Ramiro Carrera, Nery Dominguez and Abel Luciatti remain sidelined.

Despite the weekend win vs Boca, I expect Lanus to be tired here and maybe rest some starters because they are coming from the Copa Sudamericana elimination last week and used their starters on Sunday, so I’ll go with Talleres to take a very needed win.
