Having won four and drawn two of their last seven league games (only losing at Gimnasia LP in that span), the team made it 46 points in the Liga Profesional’s table, occupying the second spot in this competition and having already qualified for the Copa Libertadores’ group stage in 2022. At home, Talleres have been almost perfect in this tournament, registering eight victories, two draws and a single defeat. On Wednesday 8, Talleres lost on penalties after a scoreless draw against Boca Juniors in the Copa Argentina final.
Meanwhile, Independiente have run out of chances to qualify for the next Copa Libertadores following their 1-1 home draw against San Lorenzo in a hard-fought game in round 24. The team claimed a single victory across their last four league games, along with one stalemate and two defeats. They earned 35 points in this league tournament and will participate in the Copa Sudamericana in 2022. Furthermore, El Rojo are on five away matches without a win, having drawn one and lost the last four.
Talleres must be hurt after losing the Copa Argentina final, but I can imagine they’ll try to secure the 2nd place and finish the season with a nice win for their fans against this poor Independiente.
