Talleres vs Defensa y Justicia
Talleres new coach Pedro Caixinha experienced a rough debut at the club following a 2-1 away defeat at Gimnasia LP. After securing their first win of the season under interim boss Javier Gandolfi, the team returned to losing ways to remain on five points in this competition, sharing the bottom spot in group A with Atletico Tucuman and having lost five and drawn two of their eight league matches so far this season. Four of those points were claimed at Estadio Mario Alberto Kempes as Talleres registered one victory, one stalemate and two defeats in the league so far. They won 1-0 at home over Universidad Catolica from Chile at home on Wednesday 6 in a Copa Libertadores group game.
Defensa y Justicia’s six-game unbeaten streak of four wins and two draws in the Copa Liga Profesional was broken last Saturday, when the team succumbed to a 2-1 home defeat to River Plate in an entertaining match. Therefore, Sebastian Beccacece’s men have been displaced from the playoff spots in group A, accumulating 14 points so far. However, El Halcon are on three consecutive away victories in league action. On Wednesday 6, Defensa won 3-1 away at Deportes Antofagasta from Chile in a Copa Sudamericana group game. Â
Both come from midweek Copa games and will play again next week so changes could be expected, but within this rotated lineups Defensa is definitely the better and more confident team.
