Talleres were close to clinching their ticket to the Fase Campeonato last weekend, but they ended up losing 1-0 at Lanus after conceding in stoppage time. Therefore, the team are now second-placed in group 4 with eight points and will need to win here in order to not depend on another result. That defeat stopped their six-match unbeaten streak of four victories and two draws.
Boca Juniors showed great improvements last weekend when beating Newell’s Old Boys 2-0 at home thanks to a brace from Edwin Cardona. The team stopped a two-game losing run in this competition to leapfrog Talleres and climb into the top of group 4 table on nine points, one above them. El Xeneize only needs one more point to advance to the Fase Campeonato.
Boca only needs one point and maybe they would do it even losing if Lanus fails to win, while Talleres also will advance with a win but could settle for a draw if they get good news from the other games. Boca just played at Brazil the Copa Libertadores Round of 16 and will play the 2nd leg in just 3 days, so I can’t see them making a big effort here.
