Talleres vs Barracas
Talleres extended their winless streak to five league matches (two draws and three losses) last Saturday, when they settled for a 1-1 away stalemate at Tigre. Pedro Caixinha’s men managed five points in six rounds in the Liga Profesional, which keeps them as the worst team in the 2022 aggregate table, having earned only 16 points in 20 games this season. At home, La T are on two defeats in a row in domestic action, having lost to Newell’s Old Boys and CA Central Cordoba. On Wednesday 6, Talleres won 2-0 away at Colon in the return leg of the Copa Libertadores round of 16, advancing to the quarter-finals for the first time in history.
After three draws and two defeats, Barracas Central finally secured their first victory in the Liga Profesional last Sunday, when they beat San Lorenzo 2-1 playing as hosts at All Boys. The team made it six points in as many matches in this competition to continue escaping the relegation zone (El Guapo are now occupying the 19th place in the respective table on their return to the top flight). On away turf, Alfredo Berti’s men are on three matches without a win (two draws and one loss since beating Sarandi Arsenal 1-0 in April).
Barracas has a weak defense but they can always score against anyone, Talleres should be full of confidence after their midweek win, so I expect an open game here.
