Talleres – Defensa y Justicia

Talleres played one of their worst matches in 2024 last Sunday, when they succumbed to an unexpected 3-0 away defeat to Velez Sarsfield in their return to league action. That defeat displaced them from the top of the Liga Profesional table as La T remain on 13 points, now trailing leaders Huracan and Union Santa Fe by one, and also stopped a 13-match unbeaten streak of seven victories and six draws in league action. However, Walter Ribonetto’s men are still occupying one of the Copa Libertadores spots in the aggregate table. Talleres have been without defeat in their last eight domestic games at home, winning six and drawing two.

Defensa y Justicia fans will have felt frustrated after the team’s 2-2 home stalemate against Boca Juniors as they wasted the lead twice. El Halcon remain without a win in the Liga Profesional, accumulating four points in six matches. In fact, they are now winless in the last seven league matches (five stalemates and two defeats) and wasted the chance of climbing into the Copa Sudamericana zone in the aggregate table. Defensa took a single point from nine on offer as the visiting side in this tournament.

Talleres suffered a big and unexpected defeat last weekend vs Velez, but they are still one of the best teams in the league and I have to trust them to beat this poor Defensa that has been terrible when playing away.
