Talleres – Atletico Tucuman

Talleres have been displaced from the top of the Liga Profesional’s table following their 3-0 away defeat at Defensa y Justicia last Monday. The team are now second-placed on 29 points, trailing leaders River Plate by one. Alexander Medina’s men also saw their ten-match unbeaten streak of eight victories and two draws in league action coming to an end. However, they continue occupying one of the Copa Libertadores’ spots in the aggregate table. At home, the team haven’t lost any of their last ten league matches, having won seven and drawn three since succumbing to a 1-0 defeat to Velez Sarsfield in March.

Atletico Tucuman extended their winless streak to five league matches (earning just two points in that spell) after their disappointing 0-0 home draw against San Lorenzo in an uneventful game in round 14. Omar De Felippe’s men continue producing a poor campaign: with 16 points in the Liga Profesional, they are far from any important aims for the rest of the season. Furthermore, El Decano lost four of their last five away matches in this competition, only beating Newell’s Old Boys in the process.

Talleres should be able to recover from last week’s big defeat against this poor Atletico, to stay close to the leader River Plate.
