Sarmiento vs Talleres
Sarmiento put up a good fight away at San Lorenzo last Tuesday, but they ended up losing 1-0 in an uneventful game. As a result, the team are winless in their last five league matches, with one draw and four defeats in that spell. Having managed 24 points in 23 rounds in this tournament, they are now occupying the penultimate spot of the relegation table, level with Aldosivi and only above Patronato. At home, Sarmiento won only one of their last four games, drawing one and losing two.
Talleres returned to winning ways last Saturday, when they beat Aldosivi 2-0 at home thanks to goals from Nahuel Tenaglia and Diego Valoyes. Alexander Medina’s men continue performing an excellent campaign: they made it 43 points in the Liga Profesional after losing only one of their last six league games (along with three victories and two draws). Therefore, they remain third-placed in the aggregate table. On a sorry note, Talleres managed a single victory across their last five away matches, drawing one and losing three.
Talleres is obviously the better team, but they will play the Copa Argentina final midweek and I can’t imagine them being very focused on this match.
