Sarmiento vs Platense
Sarmiento continue to get worse match after match. The team put up a good fight at Godoy Cruz (the best team in the league at the moment) in round 13, but they ended up losing 1-0 in Mendoza. That result represented El Verde’s third consecutive defeat without even scoring in Copa Liga Profesional action, which keeps them on nine points so far, only four above the relegation spot in the aggregate table. To make matters worse, Sarmiento won only one of the last 11 at home, along with five draws and five losses.
Platense returned to winning ways in the best possible moment: last Monday, they took advantage of a brace from Mateo Pellegrino to beat arch-rivals Tigre 3-1 at home in a heated derby. El Calamar put an end to a three-match winless run of two draws and one defeat to make it 15 points in 13 rounds of Copa Liga Profesional table, opening a healthy ten-point gap over their opponents, who are bottom in the aggregate table.
Sarmiento has been just terrible lately and they will have to face this motivated Platense that just won the derby vs Tigre with a convincing 3-1 score and is coming from only 1 defeat in their last 7 games (an unlucky last minute 1-2 vs Godoy Cruz, arguably the best team in the league). The hosts have no goals scored in the last 3 and have important missing in every line so I’ll go with Platense to win here.
