Sarmiento – San Lorenzo

Sarmiento’s five-match unbeaten streak of two victories and three draws in league action came to an end last Wednesday, when the team succumbed to a 1-0 home defeat to league leaders Boca Juniors in a hard-fought game. However, Israel Damonte’s men have produced a remarkable campaign in the Liga Profesional so far, accumulating 31 points, which allowed them to have secured their top flight status for next season and to hold a tiny chance of qualifying for the Copa Sudamericana so far (sitting four points behind the last qualifying berth).

San Lorenzo hold onto their chances to return to continental action in 2023. Last Wednesday, the team secured a big 1-0 away success at Gimnasia LP thanks to a strike from Adam Bareiro in the second half. Thanks to that victory, El Ciclon made it four league games unbeaten (three wins and one draw without conceding) and accumulated 37 points in the Liga Profesional, which places them four points behind the last Copa Sudamericana spot in the aggregate rankings with two rounds to go.

San Lorenzo with a couple of important missings in defense (Giay and Zapata) but they’ve been solid in attack lately so even though I expect them to win, I’d rather go for the low totals line.
