San Martin de San Juan vs Gimnasia
San Martín SJ continue to show signs of improvement, but it is still not enough to get the results they need. Last Monday, the team recorded an unjust 0-0 draw away to Talleres despite outplaying their opponent. El Verdinegro are now three league matches without a win or a goal (two draws and one defeat) and sit on five points in the Torneo Clausura, remaining bottom of both the aggregate and relegation tables. Moreover, San Martín have lost four of their last six home league matches (along with two wins).
Gimnasia LP took a step back last Sunday, as they failed to hold on to their lead and ended up losing 2-1 at home to a rotated Lanús side. El Lobo saw their three-game unbeaten league run (two wins and one draw) come to an end and remain on seven points in the Torneo Clausura, sitting five above the relegation zone on the aggregate table. Gimnasia also defeated Godoy Cruz 2-1 in their most recent away match, snapping a five-game winless streak on the road (one draw and four losses). Norberto Briasco suffered a muscle injury and has been ruled out for Saturday.
San Martin is not getting good results and they will very likely get relegated at the end of the season but they haven’t been as bad as the numbers say in this semester, showing some signs of improvement and I think that they should have enough to beat the poor Gimnasia that won’t have Briasco and Hurtado in attack due to injuries.
