San Lorenzo vs Rosario Central

San Lorenzo put an end to their five-match winless run of two draws and three defeats in league action last Monday, when beating Estudiantes 2-0 away thanks to goals from Nicolas Fernandez and Juan Ramirez. El Ciclon are now on eight points, trailing Racing Club (who occupy the last playoff spot in group A) by four. On a sorry note, Diego Dabove’s men are without a win in their last three home league matches, having taken a single point in that span.

Rosario Central’s fans should have felt disappointed after the team’s 2-2 home draw against CA Central Cordoba last Saturday, when they conceded the equaliser in the sixth minute of stoppage time. Having won only one of their last six league matches (along with three stalemates and two defeats), El Canalla are producing an irregular campaign with nine points in seven rounds. On away turf, Central have been winless in their last four, taking a single point in the process since beating Aldosivi 1-0 in December 2020. Striker Marco Ruben showed Covid-19 symptoms and will miss out.

San Lorenzo has been far from reliable lately but they are coming from a very solid win against Estudiantes and I expect them to start gaining some momentum as their squad is definitely much better than what their position in the table says.
