San Lorenzo vs River
San Lorenzo remain winless in the Copa Liga Profesional following a 1-1 away draw at Argentinos Juniors last Sunday, when the team avoided the defeat despite having shown a poor performance again. It was their second point in this competition after registering two draws and two defeats so far, which places them in the 12th spot of 14 teams in group A. On the other hand, El Ciclon won three of the last five matches at their own stadium, losing the other two to Gimnasia LP and Defensa y Justicia.
River Plate wasted a 2-0 lead and had to settle for a 2-2 home draw against Racing Club in an entertaining game last Sunday. However, having not lost any of their last three league games (two victories and one stalemate), El Millonario are on seven points in group A, which allows them to stay in third place, three points behind the leader Union. In fact, Marcelo Gallardo’s men succumbed to a single defeat across their last 12 away matches in domestic action, having claimed seven victories and four draws in that time.
San Lorenzo is a mess but this is a derby and at home they might be able to put up a fight, but they will only do it if they can score because their defense is not solid at all. If River is playing you definitely have to expect goals, so I go here with the OVER.
