San Lorenzo vs Instituto
San Lorenzo lost their unbeaten run in the Torneo Clausura last week, falling 2-1 away to Platense in an entertaining match. Damián Ayude’s side suffered their first league defeat after two wins and two draws this semester, leaving them on eight points (still inside the Copa Sudamericana qualification spots). At home, El Ciclón have lost just one of their last four (winning two and drawing one). Alexis Cuello was sent off against Platense and is suspended for Saturday while Ezequiel Cerutti returns from his injury.
Instituto played one of their worst matches of 2025 last week, suffering a 4-0 home defeat to Unión Santa Fe after conceding four goals in the first 33 minutes. As a result, La Gloria are now winless in four straight league games (two draws and two defeats) and have collected just five points from as many rounds in the Torneo Clausura, leaving them only five points clear of the relegation zone in the aggregate table. On a brighter note, Daniel Oldrá’s side have lost only one of their last four away matches, winning two and drawing one. Fernando Alarcón, who was sent off last weekend, is suspended for this Saturday.
San Lorenzo showed a terrible defensive performance in the defeat at Platense, and not having Gaston Hernandez won’t make them any better. Instituto comes from conceding 4 goals in 30 minutes and won’t have Alarcon on their defensive line so 2 goals look definitely possible here.
