San Lorenzo secured the first spot in group 5 after accumulating 11 points thanks to a scoreless away draw at Estudiantes in an uneventful game last Monday. That result also extended their unbeaten run to eight matches (six victories and two stalemates). El Ciclon also is on three consecutive successes at Estadio Pedro Bidegain since losing to Racing Club 1-0 in February.
Aldosivi suffered a heavy blow last Monday when losing to Argentinos Juniors 4-1 at home in a six-pointer. After that slump, the team dropped down to the third spot in group 5 accumulating seven points (and trailing their last opponents by goal difference), as a product of two successes, one draw and two defeats in this competition. On away turf, Angel Hoyos’ men have been confident lately: they won five of their last seven matches, drawing one and losing one.
San Lorenzo already won the group, will play relaxed and will rest a lot of regulars, while Aldosivi must-win, so I have to expect an open game with at least a couple of goals like when they met a few weeks ago and San Lorenzo won 4-1.
