Rosario Central vs Union
Rosario Central fans will have felt devastated after the team’s 4-3 away defeat to Racing Club in a thrilling game last Friday, when they had taken a 3-1 lead at one point. El Canalla extended their winless streak to five league games (three draws and two losses) and they now remain on 25 points after 22 rounds in the Liga Profesional, a poor campaign that could compromise their top-flight status in the future. On a positive note, Central lost only one of their last five home matches, winning two and drawing two.
Union Santa Fe are slowly starting to experience a crisis. Last Friday, the team couldn’t avoid a 1-0 home defeat to Newell’s Old Boys following a poor performance. El Tatengue are now on four losses in a row in league action and remain on 26 points in the Liga Profesional (with one game in hand). As a result of this negative streak, the team are running out of chances to fight for a Copa Sudamericana ticket. Union have been winless in their last six domestic matches on the road, having drawn two and lost four.
Rosario Central is showing good football sometimes, like in the first half vs Racing on Saturday and they seem more motivated to have a good end of the tournament than this Union that will again miss their best striker and is playing for nothing.
