Rosario Central vs River Plate
Rosario Central secured a valuable point on their visit to Racing Club last time out, when they drew 1-1 away from home thanks to a goal from Alejo Veliz after conceding first. However, El Canalla are going through an irregular spell in the context of a good campaign: they won only one of the last six in league action, drawing four and losing one. River Plate became league champions for the 37th time in the club’s history last weekend, when they claimed a solid 3-1 home success over Estudiantes with Lucas Beltran, Nicolas De la Cruz and Esequiel Barco scoring. Unbeaten in their last three league games (winning two and drawing one), El Millonario made it 57 points in 25 rounds, leading second-placed Talleres by nine with two games to go in this competition. On away turf, River won only one of their last six in domestic action, along with three stalemates and two losses. On Thursday 20, Martin Demichelis’ men lost 1-0 to Talleres in the Copa Argentina second round. Playmaker Ignacio Fernandez collected his fifth yellow card in the league and is suspended to visit Rosario Central.
River already won the championship, they won’t have their best player Ignacio Fernandez and they are playing for nothing here, plus they didn’t look great midweek in the Copa Argentina elimination, so I think Central should at least avoid a defeat here.
