Rosario Central vs Racing
Rosario Central took their first victory under recently-appointed coach Ariel Holan last Monday, when they beat CA Central Cordoba 1-0 away with Luca Martinez Dupuy scoring the winner in the 90th minute. El Canalla put an end to a seven-match winless streak of four draws and three losses to accumulate 29 points in 24 rounds of Liga Profesional action. On a sorry note, Central are on three without a win at Estadio Gigante de Arroyito, drawing one and losing two in that spell.
Racing Club continue to enjoy an excellent moment of form. In their last league game, they reversed the score to beat San Lorenzo 2-1 away thanks to a brace from Facundo Mura, which allows them to stay alive in the fight for the league title. La Academia made it four consecutive victories in this competition to accumulate 40 points, trailing leaders Velez Sarsfield by five, but holding one game in hand as they were crowned Copa Sudamericana champions last weekend, beating Brazil’s Cruzeiro EC 3-1 in Paraguay and clinching a ticket for the 2025 Copa Libertadores. In addition, Racing hold a two-match winning streak as the visiting side in domestic action. Winger Maximiliano Salas is suspended for Saturday after reaching the yellow-card limit in the league. Juan Quintero and Agustin Almendra will miss out too.
I expect both teams to play a relaxed game here. Racing must win to stay alive in this competition so a draw or a defeat is the same but they are coming from winning Copa Sudamericana, and Rosario Central are playing for nothing. Both will have important missings in every line, but especially Rosario Central who won’t have their two central defenders again so I’ll go for the OVER.
