Rosario Central vs Newell’s
Rosario Central fans felt highly disappointed after the team’s 3-1 home defeat to newcomers Barracas Central after taking the first lead. In fact, Cristian Gonzalez’s men suffered three defeats in their last four league matches (along with a single win at CA Central Cordoba) and earned seven points in six games, which keeps them out of the fight for a ticket to the playoffs so far. At home, El Canalla managed three points from nine available this term, having lost their last two games.
Newell’s Old Boys made it three league games unbeaten (two victories and one draw) last Saturday, when they settled for a 2-2 away stalemate at Sarmiento in an entertaining game. La Lepra are showing improvements under Javier Sanguinetti and have earned ten points in six matches so far, which keeps them near the qualifying places in group A. On away turf, Newell’s managed four points from nine available this term, having won one, drawn one and lost one this term. Midfielder Pablo Perez returns after resting last weekend.
Another big derby of this weekend, and I expect the more in form team to get something out of it.
