Rosario Central vs Gimnasia
Rosario Central returned to winning ways following a remarkable performance in week eight, when they beat Huracan 2-0 away thanks to goals from Ignacio Malcorra and Alejo Veliz. El Canalla climbed into seventh spot in the Liga Profesional table on 14 points after succumbing to a single defeat in their last four games in this competition, having won two and drawn one in that time. Central have been strong at home lately: they are unbeaten in their last ten domestic games at Estadio Gigante de Arroyito, with four victories and six draws since losing to Banfield 1-0 in August.
Gimnasia LP were finally able to claim a victory in the city derby after 13 years without doing it. In round eight, they beat Estudiantes 2-1 at home, reversing the score through goals from Alan Lescano and Cristian Tarragona. El Lobo put an end to their three-game winless streak of one draw and two defeats in league action and made it eight points to open a three-point gap over bottom-placed Colon.
