Rosario Central vs Boca Juniors
Rosario Central fans will have felt heartbroken as the team had to settle for a 2-2 away draw at Atletico Tucuman after conceding the equaliser almost in stoppage time. However, the point is good news for them as El Canalla are sitting in third place of the Liga Profesional table on 22 points. Miguel Russo’s men made it six league games without defeat, winning three and drawing three in that time. At home, Central haven’t lost any of their last 12 matches, with six victories and six stalemates in that time. Defensive midfielder Francis Mac Allister could be able to return after succumbing to a knee injury against Argentinos Juniors in the season opener.
Boca Juniors are getting worse game after game. Last weekend, recently-appointed coach Jorge Almiron introduced several changes in the XI and his team still ended up losing to Estudiantes 1-0 at home. El Xeneize lost five of their last seven matches in league action (including the last three), along with one victory and one draw in that spell. As a result, the defending champions dropped down to the 19th place of the Liga Profesional table on just 14 points after 12 rounds. On away turf, Boca secured six of those points in five matches in this competition, winning two and losing three. On Tuesday 18, they beat Colombia’s Deportivo Pereira 2-1 at home in a Copa Libertadores group game.
I’m not convinced at all by Boca’s lucky midweek win in Libertadores when they scored 2 out of context goals in the last minutes, they will still have some missings in defense and midfield, so I’ll go with the hosts here.
