Defending champions Rosario Central fans will have felt frustrated after the 1-1 away draw at Atletico Tucuman in the season opener as the team conceded the equaliser just ten minutes before the final whistle. Nevertheless, Miguel Russo’s men extended their unbeaten streak to 12 matches in league action, having won six and drawn six in regular time. Furthermore, El Canalla seem unbeatable at their own stadium: Central are without defeat in their last 28 home games, winning 15 and drawing 13.
It seems Banfield will face a problematic season again. At least in their debut, the team were dominated from beginning to end and suffered a deserved 2-0 home defeat to Huracan. Pointless in group A, the team put an end to their ten-match unbeaten streak of four victories and six draws in regular time. On away turf, El Taladro suffered a single defeat from their last six games, winning two and drawing three in that time.
Even if Rosario Central didn’t win in the 1st round, they should be able to win here against this very poor Banfield that just lost two importante starters to long term injuries, striker Juan Bisanz and midfielder Alejandro Cabrera.
