Rosario Central vs Aldosivi
After four consecutive defeats in league action, Rosario Central managed a point on their visit to arch-rivals Newell’s Old Boys following a 1-1 draw in an intense derby last Sunday. As a result of that terrible streak, Cristian Gonzalez’s men are now bottom-placed in the league table, having accumulated only four points in seven matches. At home, El Canalla beat Velez Sarsfield 1-0 in round two and lost their last two games (to Aldosivi and Independiente). On a positive note, all regulars are fit to host Sarandi Arsenal on Wednesday.
Coach Israel Damonte had a disappointing debut at Sarandi Arsenal last Saturday, when his team lost 3-0 at home to Racing Club. The side are now on four league matches without a win, having taken a single point in that stretch, and remain on five points in this tournament, sitting in the penultimate spot (only above their next opponents). In fact, they have been the worst team in the 2021 season, accumulating only 17 points in 20 matches. On away turf, Arsenal are on four consecutive losses in domestic action since beating Defensa y Justicia 1-0 in April.
Rosario Central finally showed some signs of recovery last weekend when they played a good game and drew in the derby vs Newell’s, so if they are going to win a game again it has to be at home against this very poor Arsenal.
