Rosario Central – Independiente Rivadavia

After their big celebration last season, Rosario Central are now finding trouble. Last Saturday, the defending champions showed a terrible version and succumbed to a devastating 4-1 away defeat to Talleres. As a result, El Canalla remained on two points in this competition and also saw their 13-match unbeaten streak of six victories and seven stalemates coming to an end. On a positive note, Central have been without defeat in their last 29 as the hosting side, winning 15 and drawing 14. However, they will host this one at Estadio Unico de San Nicolas due to renovation works at Gigante de Arroyito.

Independiente Rivadavia seem to be adapting well to the top flight. Last Saturday, the team showed a solid performance to beat Huracan 2-0 at home. Rodolfo De Paoli’s men made it two consecutive successes in the Copa Liga Profesional to accumulate six points in group A. La Lepra also have been unbeaten in their last six away matches, with three victories and three stalemates since losing to Racing Cordoba 2-0 in the second tier in July. Ezequiel Ham is back after representing Syria’s national squad in the AFC Cup.

Terribly disappointing start of the season for the defending champions Rosario Central playing very poor football and still with no wins in 3 rounds. On the other hand Independiente Rivadavia won the last two, looking decent for a team that was recently promoted. The game won’t be played at Central’s stadium so I find it hard to trust them here, but I think at least a couple of goals is definitely possible considering how poor they looked in defense so far and that the visitors have scored 5 in the last 2 games.
