River vs Racing

River Plate showed their best version last weekend, when they managed an easy 6-1 away success at Godoy Cruz, having scored five goals in the first half. El Millonario made it ten points to climb into sixth spot in group A, one behind Banfield in fourth. All of those points were taken across the last five league matches thanks to three victories, one draw and a single defeat.

Only goal difference is now preventing Racing Club from climbing into the playoff places following their 1-0 home victory over Argentinos Juniors last Monday, with Leonel Miranda finding the winner in the second half. The team are on five matches without defeat in league action (three straight victories and two draws) and accumulated 11 points to occupy fifth spot in group A, trailing leaders Colon by eight.

River’s confidence is back after last week’s huge win, and I definitely expect them to beat Racing in this derby where the hosts are by far the best team.
