River vs Patronato
River Plate showed a poor version on their debut after lifting the league title last year and they succumbed to an unexpected 1-0 away defeat at Union Santa Fe. That result extended their winless run to four league matches (two draws and two losses in that spell). At home, Marcelo Gallardo’s men lost their last domestic game to Defensa y Justicia after 11 league matches without defeat at Estadio Monumental (nine victories and two stalemates).
Patronato fans should have felt gutted after the team’s 1-0 home defeat to Argentinos Juniors after conceding in stoppage time. Following this defeat, Ivan Delfino’s men dropped down to the relegation zone after five league games without a win (two draws and three losses) and without even scoring. Furthermore, Patronato haven’t claimed any victories in their last 12 away matches, having drawn five and lost seven since beating Aldosivi 2-0 in July.
River lost in the first round and I can’t imagine them failing again, especially against this very poor Patronato.
