River vs Godoy Cruz
River Plate’s two-game winning streak in league action came to an end last Sunday, when the team played one of their worst games this season and ended up losing 3-2 away at Huracan. Therefore, El Millonario remain on eight points in the Liga Profesional, which is still enough to occupy one of the Copa Libertadores spots in the 2022 aggregate table. On a positive note, Marcelo Gallardo’s men succumbed to a single defeat across their last six home matches in league action, winning three and drawing two in that span.
Godoy Cruz remain fighting hard to leave the relegation zone. Last time out, the team secured a big 1-0 home success over Colon thanks to a strike from Tadeo Allende in the second half. Unbeaten in the last three league games (two victories and one draw), El Tomba made it ten points in the Liga Profesional and remain level with Aldosivi in the relegation table: both teams would have to meet in a playoff at the end of the season for now.
River were eliminated from Copa Libertadores without being able to score a goal against Velez in neither game, and to make things worst they’ve lost their top scorer and best striker Julian Alvarez who is going to play for Manchester City, so I expect a tight game here.
