River vs Defensa y Justicia
Despite having already secured the league title, River Plate don’t take breaths. Last time out, the team came back from a 2-0 disadvantage thanks to a brace from Agustin Palavecino to make it 2-2 away at Rosario Central. As a result, Marcelo Gallardo’s men extended their impressive unbeaten streak to 18 league matches (14 wins and four stalemates) and made it 53 points in the Liga Profesional. With only two more points, they would secure first place in the 2021 aggregate table too. Furthermore, River are on 11 home matches without defeat in this competition, having won nine and drawn two since losing to Colon in the opener.
Defensa y Justicia extended their unbeaten streak to ten league games (eight victories and two draws) last Sunday, when they secured a 1-1 home stalemate against Colon thanks to a goal from Miguel Merentiel in the last minute of the match. El Halcon continue producing an excellent campaign, accumulating 41 points in the Liga Profesional’s table and currently qualifying for the Copa Sudamericana 2022.
Two of the top three attacks in the league meet and I expect nothing but an open game with goals.
