River vs Central Cordoba
After winning group A in the Copa Liga Profesional, River Plate were knocked out in the worst possible way, losing 3-2 to Boca Juniors in a heated Superclasico. That loss also stopped a two-match winning streak in league action. On a positive note, El Millonario are sitting in second spot of the aggregate table on 27 points and will try to hold onto their Copa Libertadores’ spot until the end of the season. Martin Demichelis’ men are unbeaten in their last seven domestic matches at home, winning four and drawing three. During the break, River won over Tigre 2-0 at home in a friendly game and they also beat Paraguay’s Libertad 2-1 away and drew 2-2 away at Nacional in Uruguay in Copa Libertadores action.
CA Central Cordoba finished their Copa Liga Profesional campaign with a disappointing scoreless home draw against San Lorenzo in round 14 under interim coach Juan Carlos Roldan. Following that result, El Ferroviario are without a win in their last five league games (three stalemates and two defeats) and made it 11 points, six away from the relegation spot in the aggregate table. In addition, Central secured a single victory across their last 11 away matches, drawing five and losing five. Last weekend, the team beat Atletico Tucuman 1-0 at home in a friendly game. Coach Lucas Gonzalez Velez will make his debut on Saturday.
New coach and many changes for this poor Central Cordoba that should be in trouble here even if River could rest a few starters due to their Copa Libertadores commitments.
