River Plate vs Independiente
River Plate seem unstoppable at the moment. Last Sunday, even playing with an alternative XI, the team secured a massive 1-0 away success at Newell’s Old Boys in a tough game thanks to Pablo Solari’s strike in the 95th minute. Martin Demichelis’ men made it seven consecutive victories in league action without even conceding and accumulated 30 points in the Liga Profesional, holding a six-point gap over second-placed San Lorenzo at the top of the league table after 12 rounds. At home, River are on three wins in a row in domestic action.
Coach Ricardo Zielinski made his debut at Independiente last Sunday, but the team weren’t able to secure a victory in the city derby despite having taken the first lead. The 1-1 home draw against Racing Club means El Rojo are winless in the last 11 league games, drawing seven and losing four. As a result, they accumulate ten points in the Liga Profesional, just two above bottom-placed Union Santa Fe and Sarandi Arsenal.
River have been just unstoppable lately, specially at home and while I expect them to win here, given the big handicap I’m going with the over as they come from conceding twice midweek in a Copa Libertadores 4-2 win vs Sporting Cristal.
