Racing vs Huracan
Racing Club played in very good style last semester but it all ended in a sorry way: the team lost on penalties to Boca Juniors in the Copa Liga Profesional semi-finals after a 0-0 draw and they also were knocked out of the Copa Sudamericana, beating Peru’s Melgar 1-0 but losing to River Plate (Uruguay) 1-0 during the league break (both at home). On a positive note, La Academia hold a 17-match unbeaten streak of ten wins and seven regular-time draws in league action and are occupying the second spot of the aggregate table, having grabbed 29 points in the group stage. At home, Racing are on ten domestic matches unbeaten (seven victories and three draws).
Huracan lost the chance of advancing to the Copa Liga Profesional playoffs after losing 3-0 away at Independiente, which also stopped their three-match unbeaten streak of two wins and one draw. However, having accumulated 18 points, they will fight to secure a ticket to the 2023 Copa Sudamericana. Coach Frank Kudelka resigned after that game and, with Claudio Cabrera as interim boss, El Globo lost to second-tier side Deportivo Madryn following a 0-0 draw in the Copa Argentina first round on May 24th. Huracan won only one of their last five away matches, drawing two and losing two. Â
Racing is definitely one step above this poor and irregular Huracan, and should start the season with a win at home.
