Racing vs Huracan
Racing Club are slightly returning to their usual standards. The team showed an improved version to beat Union Santa Fe 3-1 away last time out and made it two consecutive victories in the league (four across the last six in this competition, along with one draw and one defeat). As a result, La Academia are now on 14 points in the Liga Profesional, only four behind leaders River Plate. At home, Racing remain unbeaten this term: they won two and drew two at Estadio Presidente Peron in domestic action 2023. Winger Johan Carbonero ruptured his knee ligament and will miss several months.
Huracan are now facing trouble. After getting knocked out of the Copa Libertadores, they succumbed to an unexpected 2-0 home defeat against Rosario Central, a result that extended their winless streak to four Liga Profesional matches (two stalemates and two losses). Following that run, El Globo dropped down to 11th spot in the league rankings after a good start, accumulating 12 points. On away turf, Diego Dabove’s men are without a win in the last three in this competition, having drawn two and lost one since beating Defensa y Justicia 4-2 in the season opener.
Huracan will see a draw with good eyes after some bad results, Racing’s attack might not be the same without Johan Carbonero, so I expect a tight game here.
