Racing vs Godoy Cruz
Racing Club continue to improve game after game under boss Gustavo Costas. On Monday, the team showed enjoyable football to win 4-0 away at Newell’s Old Boys, who had been perfect in this competition beforehand. Therefore, La Academia are unbeaten in their last four Copa Liga Profesional matches, having won three and drawn one in that time. The side made it ten points in group B, still occupying one of the playoff spots and trailing leaders Godoy Cruz by three points. Racing won four and drew one of their last six domestic matches at home, just losing to Union Santa Fe in that time.
Godoy Cruz fans will have felt frustrated on Tuesday night, when the team deflated their usual performance and had to settle for a scoreless home strike against Union Santa Fe. However, El Tomba took advantage of Newell’s Old Boys’ loss and became the only group B leaders on 13 points (without even conceding), also making it seven league matches unbeaten (four victories and three draws in regular time). Godoy Cruz is also without defeat in his last three on the road, having won two and drawn one.
Racing has been a scoring machine lately so this could be the time when Godoy Cruz will finally concede a goal after 5 games finishing unbeaten. Even without their playmaker Hernan Lopez they’ve looked good and can definitely hurt Racing on counters, so while I think this should be a home win considering how strong the hosts have been, I’ll go for the OVER as we should definitely have at least a couple of goals.
