Racing – Gimnasia
Racing Club showed a poor version last Saturday and were lucky to secure a scoreless away stalemate at leaders Huracan thanks to a superb performance from goalkeeper Gabriel Arias. La Academia made it 17 points in the Liga Profesional, trailing the table toppers by two and remain occupying one of the Copa Libertadores’ spots in the aggregate table after losing only one of their last four league games (winning two and drawing one in that time). At home, Racing have been unbeaten in their last six domestic matches, with five victories and one draw. Midfielder Juan Nardoni will miss out on Friday due to an ankle problem.
Gimnasia LP are going through a difficult moment. Last Monday, the team ended up losing 1-0 to Rosario Central at home after producing a terrible performance. Marcelo Mendez’s men made it four Liga Profesional defeats in a row, which keeps them on ten points after nine matchdays and dropped them down to the 20th spot of the aggregate table. Furthermore, El Lobo have been without a win in their last nine on away turf, drawing one and losing eight.
Racing will use a mixed lineup because they have to play a Copa Sudamericana match at Chile next Tuesday. Gimnasia has been terrible lately and they will prioritize not to lose, so I expect them to be able to keep it close because even though they lost 4 in a row, 3 of them were only 0-1 so I’ll go for the UNDER.
