Racing Club vs Velez
Racing Club showed another disappointing performance last Monday, but they salvaged a point on their visit to Instituto following a 1-1 away draw thanks to Maximiliano Moralez’s goal in the 72nd minute. La Academia continue producing a sorry campaign in the Liga Profesional, accumulating 23 points after winning only one of their last ten matches in this competition (alongside three stalemates and six losses). Racing beat Banfield 2-0 in their last domestic home game to stop a three-match losing streak at Estadio Presidente Peron in the league.
Velez Sarsfield are experiencing a very deep crisis. Last Monday, the team succumbed to another slump, losing 1-0 against Argentinos Juniors at home following a disappointing performance under interim boss Marcelo Bravo. El Fortin extended their winless run to 11 league games (drawing six and losing five), which means they remain sharing the relegation place in the aggregate table with Banfield and Huracan, accumulating only 18 points so far. Furthermore, Velez took a single point from the last 15 on offer on away turf.
Racing has the worst defense in the league with 28 goals conceded but they’ve also scored at least once in 11 of their last 12 games, so I can imagine an open game here against this terrible and weak Velez that still doesn’t have a new coach.
