Racing – Boca
Boca Juniors don’t give up on their fight for the title. Last time out, the team secured a hard-fought 2-1 home success over Rosario Central thanks to goals from Cristian Lema and Brian Aguirre in the first half. El Xeneize made it nine league matches unbeaten (winning four and drawing five) to accumulate 21 points in the Liga Profesional, six behind leaders Velez Sarsfield, and they climbed into one of the Copa Libertadores’ berths in the aggregate table. On a sorry note, Boca remain without a win in their last five away matches in domestic action, with four stalemates and one loss. Last Saturday, Boca Juniors won on penalties after a 1-1 draw against Talleres in the Copa Argentina round of 16.
Boca continue to be irregular, not showing signs of improvement and to make things worse they won’t have legendary striker Edinson Cavani and veteran defender Marcos Rojo as well as newly acquired striker Brian Aguirre all due to injuries. Racing has been irregular as well but at home they are strong and this is a big derby they don’t want to lose.
