Platense vs Racing Club
Jorge Benitez’s strike in the first half allowed Platense to secure a massive 1-0 home success over Union Santa Fe last Tuesday. Thanks to that victory, El Calamar made it 29 points in the Liga Profesional after losing only one of their last five matches in this competition, winning two and drawing two. This remarkable campaign means the team are very close to securing their top-flight status for next season. Platense have been unbeaten in 11 home matches, having claimed four victories and seven draws.
Racing Club returned to winning ways last Tuesday: with Gabriel Hauche scoring the opener in the first half, the team secured a much-needed 1-0 home success over Patronato to keep their hopes alive in the fight for the title. La Academia are now on 31 points in the Liga Profesional, trailing leaders Gimnasia LP by five after suffering a single defeat across their last four league games (two victories and one draw). Furthermore, Fernando Gago’s men remain into the Copa Libertadores’ zone in the aggregate table.
Racing is a good team but they struggle to get comfortable wins (they won only 1 of the last 9 games by more than 1 goal) and they should have a hard time against this tough Platense.
