Platense vs Newell’s
Platense finished in 26th place of the aggregate table last season after ending it on eight winless matches (three draws and five defeats), collecting two points from 12 available at home in that time. As a result, El Calamar now hold the second worst point-average in the league (excluding the newcomers) and will fight to avoid relegation this term. Coach Martin Palermo arrived to replace Omar De Felippe and he welcomes 12 new faces.
Newell’s Old Boys produced a decent campaign in 2022, losing only one of their last six league games (three wins and two draws) to move up to ninth spot in the aggregate table and clinch a Copa Sudamericana ticket. On the road, La Lepra grabbed seven points from the last nine on offer. Coach Gabriel Heinze will make his debut on Sunday. The club lost Lautaro Morales, Cristian Lema (both joined Lanus) and Juan Garcia (Huracan) this summer. On the other hand, Jorge Recalde (from Olimpia, Paraguay), Lucas Hoyos (Velez Sarsfield) and Bruno Pitton (Emelec, Ecuador) are expected to take important roles.
Going for the OVER here as both new coaches usually like their teams playing offensive football, and this early in the season is when they should take more risks.
