Argentine Primera Division: Platense vs Independiente odds for May 19, 2024

Platense vs Independiente

Platense put up a good fight away at Newell’s Old Boys in their Liga Profesional debut, but they ended up losing 2-0 after cancelling their opponents out until the 82nd minute. That result put an end to their two-match winning streak in league action and left them in 24th spot of the point-average table, just six points above Sarmiento (the worst outfit in those rankings excluding the newcomers). Platense succumbed to a single defeat across their last 14 home matches, winning six and drawing seven in that time.

Independiente couldn’t handle playing with ten men during the whole second half last weekend and ended up losing 3-1 against Talleres at home in their Liga Profesional opener. Followjng that result, El Rojo remain pointless in this competition and stay out of the continental spots in the aggregate table after celebrating a single victory across their last six league games (along with four stalemates and two losses).

After yet another disappointing result, Independiente’s coach Carlos Tevez announced this will be his last game with the team and is no surprise considering they’ve failed to achieve all the goals they had when he arrived. I expect a low morale team, without captain Ivan Marcone in midfield, who will be facing a Platense that has been very strong at home so I’ll trust them not to lose.
