Platense vs Colon
Platense showed a great display of effort on their visit to title candidates Atletico Tucuman last Wednesday, but they weren’t able to secure points following a 2-1 away defeat. Therefore, the team extended their winless run to four league games (drawing two and losing two since beating Union Santa Fe 1-0 at home in round 19). El Calamar remain on 31 points in the Liga Profesional, a good campaign that means they only need two more points to secure their top-flight status for next season. Platense succumbed to a single defeat at their own stadium in this competition, having won four and drawn seven so far.
Colon seem to be living a new life under new coach Marcelo Saralegui. Last Wednesday, the team secured an important 1-0 home win over Patronato thanks to a penalty netted by Ramon Abila in the first half. As a result, they made it two wins in a row since the new man in charge’s arrival to end the season in an improved form although they produced a poor campaign in the Liga Profesional, accumulating 25 points in 23 rounds so far.
If missing Facundo Farias wasn’t enough for Colon, now they also won’t have another key player like Luis Rodriguez, so even though Platense has been irregular lately I’ll trust them to win at home and secure their place in the top division.
