Platense – Gimnasia

Platense secured an important point on their visit to San Lorenzo last Saturday following a 2-2 draw after trailing 2-0 at one point. Even though the team are going through a terrible streak (it was their first point after six consecutive defeats in the league), they are showing improvements under recently-appointed coach Omar De Felippe. El Calamar are on eight points in ten matches, which places them near the relegation zone at the moment. Platense also are on three losses in a row at their own stadium, having lost to Banfield, Patronato and Racing Club.

Gimnasia LP’s three-match unbeaten streak of two victories and one draw in the Copa Liga Profesional came to an end last Thursday, when they lost 3-1 to Sarmiento at home in an entertaining game. Therefore, the team remain on 12 points in group A and are almost out of the fight for a ticket to the playoffs. Nestor Gorosito’s men won their last away game at Atletico Tucuman to break a six-game winless run of two stalemates and four defeats on the road.

Two irregular teams but I rate Gimnasia better here and I expect them not to lose.
