Patronato vs Sarmiento

Patronato’s two-game winning streak in league action came to an end last Saturday, when the side lost 2-0 at Newell’s Old Boys in spite of having shown a great display of effort to earn at least a point. The team remain bottom in group B table, accumulating only six points, which also places them in the last spot in the points average table. On a positive note, Ivan Delfino’s men won their last two home matches over Aldosivi and Gimnasia LP.

Sarmiento managed to leave the bottom spot of the points average table (climbing to 22nd, level with Huracan) thanks to their 1-0 home success over Lanus last Saturday, when striker Jonatan Torres netted a penalty in the second half. Mario Sciacqua’s men put an end to a three-match winless run of one draw and two defeats in league action to make it ten points in group B. The team are without a win in their last six league matches on away turf, having drawn four and lost two in the process. Defensive midfielder Federico Bravo remains sidelined due to a knee injury.

The two worst teams of the group meet with no chances of reaching the playoffs and I have to expect an open game with goals as a draw won’t make a difference for either of them.
