Patronato secured a valuable point on their visit to league leaders Newell’s Old Boys last Monday, when they came back from a two-goal disadvantage to make it 2-2. Despite their positive campaign in this competition, El Patron remain bottom in the relegation table, 12 points behind Aldosivi and Godoy Cruz, who are level at the moment and would have to meet in a playoff at the end of the season. Sarandi Arsenal took a little breather on their struggle to avoid relegation last Monday, when they beat Estudiantes 2-1 at home thanks to goals from Cristian Colman and Leonel Picco. Leonardo Madelon’s men claimed their first success in the Liga Profesional (along with four draws and one loss) to make it seven points in six rounds, which places them two points above the relegation zone in the respective table. On away turf, El Viaducto managed two points from nine on offer in this competition as a product of two draws and one loss.
Patronato has been a decent team so far even though they will very likely be relegated at the end of this season. With not much to play for they are risking more and playing better. Arsenal sold their top scorer Cristian Colman this week, so I expect the hosts to be more prepared here.
