Newell’s vs Huracan
Newell’s Old Boys have improved in their two games under recently-appointed boss German Burgos. However, that’s not yet enough to celebrate a victory. Last Monday, the side drew 2-2 at Atletico Tucuman in a thrilling match to remain occupying the penultimate spot in group B table on just three points. In fact, La Lepra made it nine matches without a win in league action, drawing three and losing six.
Huracan new coach Frank Kudelka didn’t have the debut he would have wanted. Last Monday, the team drew 1-1 at home against Gimnasia LP in spite of having taken the first lead through Lucas Merolla. El Globo haven’t lost any of their last six matches in league action, but five of those were draws. As a result, they managed only eight points in seven rounds (three behind fourth-placed Defensa y Justicia in group B), which means only three teams are below them in the point-average table. Huracan grabbed five points from 12 on offer on away turf this term following one victory, two draws and one defeat.
If Newell’s is going to get their first win under coach German Burgos, this looks like the best opportunity for it as they will host the very poor Huracan.
