Newell’s vs Arsenal
Newell’s Old Boys managed a massive point on their visit to Tigre last Sunday, when they secured a 2-2 away draw thanks to Cristian Ferreira’s goal in the 87th minute. Even though that result is good news, La Lepra also extended their winless streak in the league to four games, drawing two and losing two in that spell. That run places them in 12th spot of the Liga Profesional table (out of the Copa Sudamericana zone) on 20 points.
Sarandi Arsenal seem condemned to relegation even though there are 26 rounds left in this league season. Last Monday, the team showed another disappointing performance and succumbed to a 1-0 home defeat against Gimnasia LP, which represented their second consecutive loss in league action and the sixth across the last seven games in this competition (along with a single win). As a result, coach Carlos Ruiz left the club. El Viaducto remain occupying the penultimate spot of the Liga Profesional table on 11 points, which keeps them bottom in the point-average table, far away from the last safe spot, occupied by Instituto. Arsenal are winless in their last five on the road, having taken a single point from 15 available in that time. Interim boss Dario Espinola will take over on Saturday.
Can’t imagine anything different than a home win here as Newell’s will host this terrible Arsenal that will have an interim coach and seems bound to play next season in 2nd division.
