Even though that result broke the team’s five-match unbeaten run of four wins and one draw, Frank Kudelka’s men remain as league leaders on 12 points (alongside Talleres, Defensa y Justicia and San Lorenzo). At home, Lanus won over San Lorenzo 2-1 and Rosario Central 3-0 so far this season. Centre back Cristian Lema is ready to return on Saturday after serving his one-week suspension.
River Plate fans will have felt devastated last Sunday as their team succumbed to an unexpected 2-1 home defeat to relegation candidates Sarandi Arsenal, who hadn’t claimed any victories beforehand, even taking the first lead. That result put an end to their two-match winning streak in the Liga Profesional and left El Millonario on nine points in the league standings, three behind Saturday opponents, who are now one of the leaders.
Irregular start of the season for River, last week they lost an incredible game at home against Arsenal, arguably the worst team in the league, so I think they should struggle against the still leader Lanus.
