Lanus vs Instituto

Lanus fans will have felt delighted last Saturday, when the team secured a massive 1-0 away victory in the derby at Banfield, with Leandro Diaz netting the winner in the 81th minute. El Granate made it six league matches unbeaten, winning three and drawing three in that time to accumulate 32 points in the Liga Profesional, returning to the Copa Sudamericana zone in the aggregate table. Lanus lost only one of their last 12 league matches at home, winning five and drawing six. Defensive midfielder Felipe Pena succumbed to a muscle injury and will miss out. Striker Walter Bou continues to recover from a muscle problem.

Instituto showed a great display of effort last Saturday, when they reversed the score to beat Deportivo Riestra 2-1 at home thanks to goals from Damian Puebla and Silvio Romero. La Gloria made it three league matches unbeaten (two victories and one draw) to accumulate 36 points in the Liga Profesional, which places them just two points behind the Copa Sudamericana zone in the aggregate table. On a sorry note, Instituto managed just two points from the last 18 on offer as the visiting side. Right back Juan Franco saw a red card against Deportivo Riestra and is suspended for Saturday.

If Instituto doesn’t win they could be out of chances of getting a Copa Sudamericana place for the first time ever, Lanus could almost secure the same thing with a win, so I expect to see an open game here where the visitors will have to take risks sooner or later.
